Four years ago, Lomosonic released their first album, Dok Mai Fai (Fireworks). The songs on the album stood out with their unique musical arrangements and a sound that was different from any other local band at that time. The six members of the band also showed superb skill in playing their instruments.

Now Lomosonic are back with a double album called Echo & Silence. The two CDs included with the album feature 20 tracks of original alternative rock music.

The Echo disc features strong, powerful songs reminiscent of the band’s debut album. Silence, on the other hand, presents slow ballads full of sensitive, emotional music of the kind that fans have never heard from Lomosonic.

Lomosonic are now a four-piece band, and the almost total absence of synthesizers on this release makes it sound quite different from Fireworks. Overall, however, Lomosonic have improved a lot, and have even managed to reduce the harshness of their sound while still maintaining the intensity. Echo & Silence has plenty of emotional songs with catchy melodies that should please the band’s fans. — VH
