    On June 26 each year, Thais celebrate the birthday of legendary poet Phra Sunthorn Voharn, widely known as Sunthorn Phu. Born during the reign of King Rama I in 1786, Sunthorn Phu wrote a great number of classic poems, stories and epics. As the most admired writer of the Rattanakosin era, he was declared a World Poet by UNESCO in 1986.
