Until the end of this week at Sombat Permpoon Gallery on Sukhumvit Soi 1, see Life-Mind, an exhibition of paintings by Worariddh Riddhagni, who uses Buddhist symbolism, playful colours and fantasy landscapes to express feelings of serenity. In 2000, Andrew Lloyd Webber�s award-winning musical Cats finally closes its Broadway run in New York City after a record-breaking 7,485 performances over almost 18 years.

September 11

In 2001, in the US, four airliners are hijacked. Two are intentionally crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City, which collapses shortly after. Another airliner hits the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashes into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people are killed in the coordinated attacks.

In 1997, blues legend John Lee Hooker receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In 1966, The Beatles receive a gold record for their hit song �Yellow Submarine.�

In 1983, Hollywood action star Arnold Schwarzenegger becomes a US citizen. He had emigrated from Austria 14 years earlier.
