Triggs release winning debut

Triggs and the Longest Day

Almost Ready
Independent Release

Over the past couple of years, local underground band Triggs and the Longest Day have been making a name for themselves as one of Thailand's few true garage rock 'n' roll bands. Almost Ready is their first full-length album, and it does a great job of capturing the band's chaotic live energy and excitement.

Beginning with the loud and frenetic "Untitled," the energy of the band never lets up throughout the eight tracks that follow, even when the pace slows down for the summery "Sometime Somewhere."

Anybody who has seen the band live will be familiar with the extremely catchy "By the Sea," "Knock You," "Longest Day" and "The Deal," and the recordings definitely do justice to these live favourites. Noisy album closer "Let It Go" is another highlight.

The Triggs sound is a fun mix of loud guitars — Tokin Teekanun's heavily distorted rhythm and Panmanus Nakata's tough, cutting lead — underpinned by melodic bass from Nopphon Cheng and imaginative, rocking drumming from Sanpawit Soikum. What also sets the band apart is the tight, melodic songwriting of singer Tokin.

Almost Ready is one of the most exciting albums to be released by a Thai band in a long time, and local music fans should treasure Triggs and the Longest Day. Get hold of their album and check out one of their live shows before they become internationally famous. — BE
