Teenage witch

Evil spirits scare a family

Directed by Robert Eggers, The Witch is a terrifying new horror film that brings together witches and black magic in the story of one family’s nightmare.

In 1630’s New England, an English farmer (Ralph Ineson) leaves his home and moves his wife (Kate Dickie) and five children to live on the edge of a dark forest, within which hides an unknown evil. Strange things begin to happen almost immediately — animals start behaving badly, crops fail and the youngest son Samuel disappears as another becomes seemingly possessed by an evil spirit.

As they become more scared, the family members start to think that the oldest teenage daughter Thomasin (Anya Taylor-Joy) is a witch. Thomasin denies that she’s a witch but more and more terrifying events are happening, testing the family’s love and trust.

Get ready to be scared when The Witch opens in local cinemas on May 5.
