A woman has admitted to setting her house on fire during an angry quarrel with her husband, causing a major fire in Klong Toey’s Rom Klao community

The 37-year-old woman, who was identified as Chanthana Patcharasophit, was apprehended at Big C department store on Rama IV yesterday about 4pm.

Shortly after being detained she was taken to a press conference at the Metropolitan Police Bureau.
Tha Ruea police chief Ketchakat Ninpradap said the suspect admitted to setting fire to a pile of her clothing during a quarrel with her husband.

The blaze not only destroyed her home, but it quickly spread to the surrounding Rom Klao community ravaging about 50 houses in zone 1.

Police have charged Ms Chanthana with arson he said.

Pol Col Ketchakat said the arrest was made after a witness saw her pouring fuel on her clothes and setting it alight when she was arguing with her husband.

Shortly after the incident, she and her husband fled the scene.

There were no reports of casualties from the fire. Pol Col Ketchakat said 401 people from 92 families were affected by the blaze
