Student Weekly:Super Robot Wars UX

Super Robot Wars UX

Super Robot UX, the newest irritation of a long-runningrobot-anime-strategy genre game series, is back again with its classic and unique game play style.

In this game, you’ll have to plan your strategy by commanding your robots on a grid based board and send them to do appropriate action on appropriate destinations.

Super Robot UX provides many pretty authentic cut scenes from various Japanese robot series.

Not only that, these cut scenes will become more dramatic when you overkill enemies with special attack maneuvers. Also, all attack can be upgraded for more drastic power.

Below are renowned robot series those are presented in this UX episode:

1. Linebarrels of Iron
2. KishinHoukouDemonbane (new)
3. Fafner in the Azure
4. Fafner in the Azure: Heaven and Earth film (new)
5. The Wings of Rean (new)
6. Ninja SenshiTobikage
7. Cyber Troopers Virtual-On featuring Fei-Yen HD (new)
8. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny
9. Mobile Suit Gundam00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer (new)
10. SD GundamSangokuden Brave Battle Warriors (new)
11. Heroman (new)
12. Mazinkaizer SKL (new)
13. Macross Frontier The Movie: The False Songstress
14. Macross Frontier The Movie: The Wings of Goodbye
15. JusoKikoDancouga Nova
16. Aura Battler Dunbine

The beginning chapters of this game is easy, while the 2nd half require a more skills and thinking and you will need to fulfil specific conditions to clear them. And I reached a stage which I needed to turn off my 3DS to do some planning before proceeding with the game. Moreover, this games story can split into different paths and let you join force with different new friends when you complete different requirements.

Partner system in this game will give you extra boost when your robots join forces and will let them unleash co-operative special maneuvers more easily, while strengthening specific abilities to each other (IE: enable strong but slow robots move a lot further than what they normally do).

There are few things that frustrated me, which are the lack of introduction animation for each robots and the fact that this game not using many unique features that Nintendo 3DS console provides even simplest thing such as the touch screen. Also, the circle pad has not been utilized very well, instead of using it to move your team around, you use it to zoom in and zoom out. Not only that, the AI (artificial intelligence) is not very brutal and let you live to see another day.

If you can live with the above grudges, this game is worth you money.
