Student Weekly: Japanese 7 eleven and my surprise

Japanese 7 eleven and my surprise

Long time no see Student Weekly readers, Mr. Tong's back again.

I walked into the store was toys.

I recently went on a holiday trip in Japan for 4 days and 3 nights.

It was my dream, since I was a child, to visit the birth place of animation.

I have many things that I got from this trip to share with you. But this week, I'll be talking about minimart that every Thai person knows: 7 eleven.

Before I went on this trip, I did some research and came across people saying that 7 eleven in Japan has a lot of things which the one in Thailand doesn't have.

When I arrived in Japan, I was exhausted and tired because I was very excited to be abroad the first time in my life, which caused me to to not be able to go to sleep and stayed awake watching Maskrider Kiba animation until midnight before getting ready to go to the airport and flew off at 3 AM (which I still did not sleep because I'm a kind of person who doesn't like to sleep on vehicles).

All this non-sleeping business cause me drowsiness. But with my urge to go sightseeing with my sister, this drowsiness did not stop me and my sister to go around town that night.

I have to say that Japan is a very safe place to be, my sister and I felt safe on the streets even at midnight (I won't say the same elsewhere). And most stores close at 20.00, which caused the atmosphere to be kind of dark and quiet.

The cosmetics department is in the 7 eleven.

Anyway, when I went in Japan's 7 eleven, the first thing I saw were toys, but not stupid & cheap toy like the ones you find here. Here, you'll find models such as Gundams. And, not long after that, my sister called me over to look at some cosmetics, which she claimed that, in Thailand, they are exclusively sold in big department stores only. This cause my sister to go in to 'shopping mode' and went on shopping spree.

I went on looking around leisurely and, though I was told that Japan is open about sex issues, I wasn't expecting to find adult magazines being sold publicly in minimarts like this. I wanted to take a peek but they were sealed, fortunately.

After that, I visited the edibles part of this 7 eleven and, to my surprise, found Starbuck tinned coffee, Oden noodles, good quality bakery and liquor being sold here as well.

Not long after that, I can't stand my sleepiness any longer. So, We went back to our hotel.

I'll continue next time. See you.
