Student Weekly: Kid Icarus: Uprising

Kid Icarus: Uprising

Time to fight underworld gods and creatures

Once again, I was hooked by a 3DS game. This time it's an action game called Kid Icarus: Uprising on Nintendo 3DS handheld console, which I spent more than 26 hours on it last week… sigh…

Kid Icarus: Uprising is a hybrid fast-flying-shooting and third-person action game combined in to one. Because you’ll have to play through 2 aspects in this game, first is the fast-flying-shooting part, which you’ll be flying around shooting enemies while dodging their barrage of bullets. And, the second aspect is the third-person action game that you’ll be running around on the ground causing havoc among monsters and bosses.

Thanks to the game creator, this game is very fast paced with so much going on your small screen. You’ll find no dull moment playing this game because you’ll be moving, dodging, aiming and attacking all at the same time, while you get gang-banged by hordes of monsters.

This game has by one of the best voice acting you’ll find in ages and you’ll find plenty of humor along the way (I laughed out loud many times).

This game gives you limitless freedom customization to your weapons. You can acquire weapons along your way and combine them in to new ones with plenty of modifier statistics to add to them. There are 9 types of weapon all together (blade, claw, bow, staff, palm, club, cannon, orbitar and arm), not to mention that each type has about 10 kinds of weapons in them and each type have their own pros & cons. For instance, you might be a fan of blades and you might pick a ‘Viper blade’, which can poison your enemies on contact and this kind of blade can slash pretty widely in close range but can hardly shoot at monsters when they’re far away (all weapons can attack both close and far away). Or you might pick a ‘Doom cannon’ that can shoot high-impact blast vortexes that explodes when it gets close to your prey but you can’t shoot rapidly, nor does it hit hard at close range.

So, you’ll have plenty of freedom choosing what you want to equip your character with. And you’ll find that you’ll be spending a lot of time combining and trying out new kinds of weapons, like I did.

This game has a story circling around Pit, an angle who can’t fly, who gets helped from gods and goddess to save the world from underworld armies, who tries to take over all existence.

For people who like to test their abilities with the world, you can do so by ducking out in this games multiplayer mode, which throws you in a 3-versus-3 fights, all control by real players of cause.

This game is very addictive and I would recommend you getting the game, if you have a 3DS.
