The first Hello Kitty products were launched in 1974.

Pop twins Neko Jump — Charattha Imraporn (Jam) and Warattha Imraporn (Noey), 22 — are always in demand with teen listeners. Aside from their busy music careers, Noey and Jam recently appeared in the candid camera film, Saranae Osekai, in which they had a trick played on them in Japan.

The girls have also been busy of late promoting their vibrant new single, “Natadee Mai Mee Fan (Attractive Girl With No Boyfriend),” which has attracted more than three million views on YouTube so far.

Student Weekly recently met up with Jam and Noey at the RS office to chat about their experiences making their latest a video and about their trips to Japan.

Student Weekly: How do you feel about the great response you’ve had for your “Attractive Girl With No Boyfriend” video on YouTube?

Jam: I’m delighted when our fans like our videos. The positive response we get gives us encouragement.

Student Weekly: Why do you think your fans loved this video so much?

Jam: They hadn’t heard a relaxing song from us for a long time. They probably enjoyed hearing this type of song again.

Student Weekly: What was it like performing with Gavin from 3.2.1 in the video?

Noey: I always feel shy when I have to act in a sweet scene with a guy. Gavin is also younger than us, so I felt funny when he was acting masculine on the set.

Jam: I was worried that I looked older than Noey and Gavin. The staff on the set also noticed that and I had to change my make-up many times. It was quite stressful.

Student Weekly: Did you enjoy filming the video in Ratchaburi?

Jam: Yes, it was fun. We filmed at a resort with beautiful views. But we had a hard time in the scene where we ride bicycles because we had to ride up a hill. We were exhausted by the time we got to the top!

Student Weekly: You’ve been to Tokyo many times. What do you like to do when you’re there?

Noey: I like to wander on the streets of Tokyo and see Japanese people dressed up in many different styles.

Jam: In the shops, staff members always wear interesting clothes. For example, in cosplay shops they wear cosplay costumes, while in shops that sell military uniforms, the sales staff dress and act like soldiers. Japan is so unique!

Student Weekly: What would you recommend to a female tourist spending a day in Tokyo?

Noey: She should check out the three main shopping districts — Harajuku, Shinjuku and Shibuya. Japan also has a great mix of modern and old areas.

Jam: If you go to Tokyo with a family, both the Fujiko Doraemon Museum and the Hello Kitty Museum are worth visiting. They have collections of everything relating to Doraemon and Hello Kitty.

Student Weekly: How do you feel about candid camera programmes?

Jam: We like to watch them. It’s fun to see people react in ways that you rarely see in real life.

Student Weekly: Do you think that the pranks sometimes go too far?

Jam: Yes. We watched one on YouTube from a Japanese candid camera show. They set up a fake toilet in a public area, and after somebody flushed the toilet, the whole lavatory suddenly fell apart. The show had several cameras hidden to show their reactions in detail, and it must have been humiliating for them.

Student Weekly: Jam, why do you like to tweet about dharma?

Jam: I’m interested in it. I used to get upset easily, but dharma helped me to become more optimistic and to think more carefully. Most teenagers probably aren’t interested in dharma, so I’m happy if my fans read my dharma messages and find them useful.
