Doraemon hits the big screen

Takashi Yamazaki directed the popular award-winning film, Always: Sunset on Third Street.

Directed by Takashi Yamazaki and Ryuichi Yagi, Stand by Me Doraemon is a new 3-D computer animated film based on the ever-popular Doraemon manga series.

In the film, robotic blue cat Doraemon travels from the future to assist a young boy named Nobita in an effort to make him a better person. Doraemon has a magical pocket full of futuristic gadgets that can help Nobita in various different situations.

When Nobita grows up, he has to travel to a mountain during a period of heavy snow to save Shizuka, a woman he has liked for a long time. As Nobita later prepares to marry Shizuka, Doraemon has to leave Nobita to live out his future on his own.

Doraemon fans shouldn’t miss the fun and magical Stand by Me Doraemon when it hits local cinemas on December 31.
