Hilary hits the dancefloor

After being away from the music industry since her 2007 release, Dignity, American star Hilary Duff is back with a new album, Breathe In. Breathe Out. The pop princess hasn’t changed her style much, but the new album is definitely more dancefloor-friendly.

Breathe In. Breathe Out. has a range of sounds and styles. It opens with "Sparks," a synth-pop song mixed with a whistled melody, while "One in a Million" is more of a pop-rock tune with its strong beat. "Confetti" is where the dance music influence is strongest, giving the song that modern EDM feel which has gained widespread popularity.

The title track changes the mood with its medium tempo, and "Lies" talks about the end of a relationship as Hilary is now divorced. However, the best track on the album is "Tattoo," written by Ed Sheeran. The acoustic mood suits Hilary’s singing perfectly, as does the closing track, "Night Like This."

Overall, this album gives you plenty to enjoy and would make a great party soundtrack. — SK
