B.O.Y. find their first love

New singing sensation B.O.Y. created quite a buzz recently with their single First Love, First Hurt, propelled by a playful beat and featuring the talents of guest singer Chin Chintanawut.

After that single hit big, B.O.Y. were back on the charts with the emotional ballad Tha Hak Mai Koei Jap (If Ive Never Felt Pain Before).

• Did you know •
James likes to read books about Greek mythology.

B.O.Y.s cute image isnt surprising. Three of the guys Kritsanagun Maneepagapun (Teng Nueng), 21, Kitkasem McFadden (James), 19, and Natcha Jantapan (Mouse), 17 were scouted from a Dutchie Boy & Girl contest.

Leo Saussay, 18, was found through Aratist, Grammys artist agency.

Student Weekly recently met up with the guys to talk about their lifestyles, their first loves and their debut album, B.O.Y. : Blood of Youth.

STUDENT WEEKLY: Do you guys think that appearance is the most important factor in selling an album?

Teng Nueng: If people think were good looking, we take it as a compliment. But to release an album with Grammy requires talent. We can all sing.

STUDENT WEEKLY: Is it true that Leo likes to play tricks on you guys?

Teng Nueng: Yes. He doesnt do it to hassle us, just to make us smile. When we feel stressed at work, Leo likes to tease us to help us relax and have fun.

STUDENT WEEKLY: Your hit single is about first love. Can you tell us about your own experiences?

Teng Nueng: I met my first love in an evening tutoring class at school. She was pretty and good at studying. I still keep in touch with her.

Mouse: My first love was my classmate in a kindergarten. She was very cute, but I was shy, so we didnt talk much.

James: When I was in elementary school, I had a crush on a gorgeous, chatty girl. I lost touch with her when I moved to England.

Leo: I found puppy love when I moved to Bangkok and met a pretty classmate. After seeing her every day, we became more like good friends.

STUDENT WEEKLY: Mouse, we heard that you love drawing cartoons who is your favourite cartoonist?

Mouse: Akira Toriyama, who created the Japanese manga series Dragon Ball.

STUDENT WEEKLY: James, you played various sports in the UK. Do you think theres enough room for sport in Bangkok?

James: No, theres not enough space. Its not easy to find an outdoor area for exercise. I have to go to the gym or play basketball.

STUDENT WEEKLY: Leo, is it true that you like to do the bands hair?

Leo: Yes. I helped our hairdresser to set my hairstyle today. A new hairstyle can totally change your image.

STUDENT WEEKLY: Did Chin Chinawut give you guys any advice when you worked with him?

Leo: He talked a lot. [Laughs.] He told us about artists who are good at entertaining the audience, like Ice Sarunyu.

He said that we shouldnt only focus on one section of the audience when were performing. Everybodys there to have a good time.

STUDENT WEEKLY: If you werent singers, what would you want to be?

Teng Nueng: I studied communication arts. Id like to be a documentary maker or a reporter.

Mouse: Id like to be an actor. I acted in the TV series Nong Mai Rai Borisud [Freshman]. I enjoy watching movies and dramas.

James: Ive never tried acting, but I think Id be good at it.

Leo: Being a singer has always been my dream, but my second choice would be a TV host or DJ.

STUDENT WEEKLY: Do you guys think youll become one of the top boy bands?

Teng Nueng: Thats every bands dream. Were really happy with the great response weve had so far.
