Since we’re now in the thick of summer in Thailand, many locals will be looking for a place to escape from the heat. One fun way to cool off is to visit a local water park.

For this week’s Freeze Frame, SW visits some of the coolest water parks in the kingdom.

Opened in 1980, Siam Park City in Bangkok’s Khan Na Yao district is one of the oldest and biggest amusement parks in Thailand. Apart from roller coasters and other rides, the venue has the biggest artificial sea in the world, listed by Guinness World Records in 2009.

Recently opened last December, the new Vana Nava Hua Hin water park is located in Prachuap Khiri Khan. The venue’s highlight is The Abyss, which is the largest slide in Thailand.

Located in Phetchaburi’s Cha-am district, Santorini Water Fantasy uses digital technology to control rides and slides, many of which were imported from Turkey.

If you want to go shopping after spending some fun time wading through water, Fantasia Lagoon at The Mall Bangkapi in Bangkok is a great choice.

Those who love slides are encouraged to explore Black Mountain Water Park in Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Hua Hin district, where nine different types of rides are available.

If you love rough boat rides that leave you soaked, the water park zone at Dream World in Pathum Thani should be your pick.
