Child attacked

Man caught by villagers

A 35-year-old man was arrested in Satun for allegedly raping the 7-year-old daughter of a Myanmar worker.
The attack happened on April 14 when labourers, mostly from Myanmar, were working at a shipyard while their children were playing in the area, according to witness Yuwadee Saenmak.

Yuwadee said the 7-year-old victim and another 3-year-old child were seen following a man, who later appeared intoxicated as he emerged from a bush near the community.

Illegal logging

Nine arrested in raids

A combined task force arrested nine people allegedly involved in illegal logging of precious wood worth more than 57 million baht in several provinces.

A factory thought to be selling smuggled precious timber in Nakhon Pathom was also raided and the two factory owners arrested. Other raids took place in Samut Prakan, Chanthaburi and Pathum Thani.

Authorities launched the raids over the holiday festival. The combined task force made up of police, soldiers and local officials started its operation on April 11.

Three die from weather

Three people died from heat stroke. It happened on April 17. The deaths were in Bangkok, Samut Sakhon and Ang Thong. Temperatures were higher than 40 degrees Celsius in many parts of Thailand.
