Student dies in Pattaya

Pattaya police said on August 16 that a 20-year-old female Chinese student was found dead on the balcony of a condominium in Pattaya.

Zhang Chunrong was found on the balcony on August 4, police said. The woman came to Thailand to meet her friend, Lin Kun, in Pattaya. After she arrived on August 3, Zhang was reportedly suffering from a stomach ache and went to see a doctor.

Lin told police that she saw Zhang on the balcony in the afternoon before she found her dead hours later. Police were waiting for the autopsy result.


EXPENSIVE EXPANSION

Authorities expand Rangsit road

A small road used by motorists to avoid the Rangsit area of Pathum Thani is being widened at a cost of 434.6 million baht, authorities said on August 15.

The 7.4km road helps to ease traffic on Highway 305, said Darun Saengchai, director general of the Department of Rural Roads.

The two-lane road will be widened to four lanes. When the expansion is finished, traffic congestion should improve dramatically and the travel time for motorists will be shorter, Darun said.

DEALERS DEALT WITH

Police take drugs

Two men were arrested. It happened in Bangkok on August 13. They were arrested for drug trafficking. Police seized 578,000 speed pills and 10kg of crystal methamphetamine.
