Letter of the week

RAFT OF FUN

During the rainy season I usually don’t feel like travelling, because everywhere we go the weather is always moist and humid. But I changed my mind after I had a chance to go to the Cheow Lan Reservoir in Surat Thani Province.

We stayed in a raft hotel, and the view from our raft was amazing. There was no Internet or even a mobile phone signal. We spent a whole day and night in the middle of the Cheow Lan Dam. We also had our own kayak. Even though it rained most of the time, I still had an enjoyable time there.

Theethad Thipsoda,
via email

That sounds like a really fun trip, Theethad. I guess when it's the time of year when you're going to get wet anyway, you might as well take a trip to somewhere that's surrounded by water. I've never been to Cheow Lan Reservoir before, but your letter has inspired me to check it out sometime. Thanks for writing in! — Editor

MUSIC THERAPY

Music is a universal language. As a psychology student interested in counselling, I think music is one of the best cures for negative feelings, but still obviously not for everybody.

I feel like a teenager with an old soul and a young heart. When I am alone and lonely, I tend to listen to music, especially popular Thai songs. I feel that this can help me forget some of the unnecessary memories I have.

Teera Siribunsuk,
Bangkok

Thanks for your letter, Teera. You won't get any arguments from me about music being a great cure for feeling bad. I think that making music is one of the greatest things a person can do, and listening to music is definitely one of the things that makes life worth living. And that goes for all types of music. Whatever you're into, enjoy it wherever and whenever you can. — Editor

CITY CYCLING

My nephew and I joined a Bike for Mom event last Sunday. There were so many people and cyclists, and everybody was wearing yellow clothes. We rode from Yaowarat Road to Sanam Luang. I was happy to see crowds all along the way. It was a great event and a good activity.

Supaluck Amnuaychailert,

That sounds like fun, Supaluck. The official Bike for Mom event was yet to happen at the time we received your letter, so you must be talking about the official rehearsal that took place on Sunday, August 9. Riding a bike is an enjoyable and healthy thing to do at any time, so I imagine doing it with a few hundred thousand other people should be an unforgettable experience! — Editor
