To raise awareness of violence against women and girls, UN Women and SF World Cinema are holding a four-day film festival in Bangkok. Some movie highlights are Brave Miss World and Ilo Ilo.

Brave Miss World is a documentary about Miss Israel, Linor Abargil, who was crowned Miss World in 1998. Linor was raped before the Miss World competition began, and the film shares experiences of what a rape victim has to go through.

The 2013 Singaporean film, Ilo Ilo is about a family who hires a maid from the Philippines. The maid and the family’s 10-year-old boy become close, making the mother jealous.

Tickets are free, and you can pick up a ticket 30 minutes before screening at the information desk in front of the cinema. Check out details of movies and screening times at www.sfcinemacity.com. For more information, call 02 268 8888 or go to www.facebook.com/Welovesf.
