Chemicals leak in Ayutthaya

Chemicals leaked from an army weapons depot in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district, sending clouds of yellow gas into neighbouring communities.

Several hours of torrential rain on the night of September 12 in Ayutthaya caused land subsidence under a warehouse in Ban Koh sub-district. The warehouse is used to store chemical containers.

Containers of liquid nitric and sulphuric acids inside the warehouse were damaged, sending yellow smoke pluming through Ban Koh sub-district and nearby villages. Villagers who inhaled the fumes complained of nasal irritation. No serious injuries were reported.


ALIENS ARRESTED

Official detain 50 migrants

More than 50 Rohingya migrants, believed to have been trafficked into the country, were found inside a hideout in Songkhla province on September 13.

Authorities raided a makeshift camp in a rubber plantation in Hat Yai district and found the migrants. The gang who trafficked the migrants fled the scene, officials said.

A total of 53 Rohingya were taken from the camp and placed under the authorities' care at a mosque in Chalung sub-district. They will be further detained by immigration police, authorities reported.

DANGEROUS DRUGS

70,000 speeding pills seized

Two drug traffickers were arrested. It happened in Chumphon province on September 14. They were distributing g 70,000 methamphetamine pills. The two men were caught at a roadside checkpoint in Tha Se district.
