Did you know

The first film made by the GTH team was Mekhong Full Moon Party in 2002.

Over the past seven years, GMM Tai Hub has become one of Thailand’s leading film companies, releasing a string of blockbusters including Seasons Change, Dear Dakanda, Bangkok Traffic Love Story and Suck Seed.

On July 26, GTH celebrate their seventh anniversary with their latest release, Rak Jed Pee Dee Jed Hon (Seven Something). The film features three separate stories, titled 14, 21/28 and 42.195, each of which is about love at different stages of life.

Student Weekly recently caught up with the two young stars — 15-year-old actress Sutatta Udomsilp (Pun Pun) and 17-year-old Jirayu La-ongmanee (Kao) — of the 14 segment of the movie at GTH headquarters to hear all about the making of Seven Something.

Student Weekly: Can you tell us about your characters in the 14 part of Seven Something?

Kao: Our section of the film is a teenage love story. My character is a high school student and computer expert named Puan. He’s addicted to social network sites and he loves to be the center of attention. Whatever thought comes into his mind, he posts online.

Pun Pun: I play Puan’s girlfriend, Milk. She’s totally different to Puan — she’s quiet, loves privacy and doesn’t really care about online social networking. Their differences cause problems in their relationship.

Student Weekly: Do you think that social networking really can cause problems in relationships?

Pun Pun: Yes, I think it can. People seem to care more about chatting or posting something online than paying attention to the person standing next to them. You can see that everywhere these days.

Student Weekly: Kao, you worked with director Paween Purijitpanya before on the 2009 film, Phobia 2. Was it easier or harder working together this time?

Kao: It was much easier this time because we know each other’s style of working a lot better. I was surprised that Paween made a movie about love. He’d only directed horror movies and thrillers before, so it was good to see him do something different.

Student Weekly: Did you guys enjoying working together on this film?

Kao: When I first met Pun Pun, she was only about 13 years old. But she has always been smart and more mature than other kids her age.

Pun Pun: Kao was already well known when I started acting. I thought of him as a famous celebrity, but once we met and worked together, I realised that he’s just a normal kid. [Laughs.]

Student Weekly: Both of you have been in showbiz for a few years now. What’s it like working in the entertainment industry at such a young age?

Pun Pun: I think it makes us more experienced and able to understand acting faster than others who are just starting out.

Kao: It’s good, but at the same time, we kind of miss out on the fun that normal teenagers have. When we’re not at school, we have to work most of the time. We don’t get much time to hang out with our friends.

Student Weekly: Kao, the song you sang for the Suck Seed soundtrack was really successful. Do you plan to release your own album in the future?

Kao: Yes, absolutely. I recently released a single called “Winatee Deow Taonun [Only a Second],” so I hope my fans like it. If I get some good feedback, I should be able to release an album in the future.

Student Weekly: What makes Seven Something worth going to see?

Kao: If you’ve enjoyed any GTH films in the past, I’m pretty sure that you’ll like this movie.

Pun Pun: It’s a good movie for people of all ages. Our 14 part is good for teens to see so that they can learn something about their lives in modern society.
