Editor's note

Showing all over Thailand this week is an exciting new drama, Back to School, a not-awaited sequel to the smash hit Summer Holiday.

Fans of Summer Holiday will be disappointed that the series has ended. However, Back to School features all your favourite characters from earlier seasons of the drama. The heroes are again played by your best friends who are sure to have interesting stories to share with you. Your teachers also have starring roles, this semester playing the characters of The Friendly Teacher and The Teacher You Don’t Really Like.

Details of the story are not available as this issue of Student Weekly is being written, but rumours suggest that this season features an exciting romance between two people from your English class. The boy and girl get together with some help from their friends and there’s an exciting plot twist on Wai Khru Day.

Later in the season there will be a special horror episode called Exam Week, followed by a comedy episode called Half Term.

Some viewers may be worried that the season is too long — this one will run for a whole semester — but people who’ve seen previews say the first few episodes go by really quickly and before viewers realise, they’ll have forgotten all about Summer Holiday.

One storyline that’s sure to get a lot of attention is about a young student who has a strong desire to get better at English. They struggle in class and feel embarrassed by their poor language skills. They try to read several English novels but give up after finding them too difficult. Finally, a friend recommends that they start reading Student Weekly.

The student really enjoys reading the magazine’s mix of stories about their favourite music, TV and movie stars. In fact, they enjoy the stories so much that they forget that they’re learning English at the same time as reading. By the end of the season their English has improved and they’ve learned a valuable lesson that learning English can be interesting and fun!

But I don’t want to spoil the ending. Enjoy the new series of Back to School!
