Before The Rewrite, Marc Lawrence directed three other films starring Hugh Grant.

Directed by Marc Lawrence, The Rewrite is a romantic comedy film starring Hugh Grant.

Keith Michaels (Grant) was once an award-winning screenwriter with a hit movie to his name, a beautiful family, and a seemingly inexhaustible supply of natural charm. But now, fifteen years later, Keith is divorced, approaching 50, hasn’t written a hit film in years and is going broke.

Keith’s agent finds a job for him teaching screenwriting at a university in upstate New York. At Binghamton University, Keith finds that his celebrity status hasn’t faded and that it’s easy for him to start an affair with Karen (Bella Heathcote), a student enrolled in his class.

Hoping to give minimal attention to his duties and focus on writing a new script, Keith inadvertently gets off on the wrong foot with some of his fellow staff members. However, Keith’s attitude begins to change when he meets Holly (Marisa Tomei), a single mom working two jobs to earn her Bachelor’s degree. The two soon find themselves connected by their mutual need for a second chance in life.

Catch the humour and romance when The Rewrite opens in local cinemas on December 24.
