Did you know

Dharm and Flute want to act in a sci-fi action movie.

In the upcoming ghost movie Game Pook Pee (Ghost Coin), a group of young people film various crazy acts in an effort to attract viewers to their social network channels.

The mayhem starts when the group decides to film a video in a cemetery. Group leader Ton, played by 18-year-old Dharmthai Plangsilp (Dharm), finds a skeleton and takes coins from its mouth, which makes the skeleton suddenly come to life. As the group runs away, Ton handcuffs himself to his half-brother Tor, played by 14-year-old Chinnaphat Kitichaivarongkoon (Flute). Ton and Tor don’t get along but are forced to stick together as they try to escape.

Student Weekly recently met up with singer turned actor Dharm and his co-star Flute at Terminal 21, where a press conference for Ghost Coin was held. The young actors told us about their experiences making the movie, which is due to be released on December 24.

Student Weekly: Can you tell us about your characters in Ghost Coin?

Dharm: Ton thinks that his mom pays more attention to his half-brother Tor, so he tries to get attention from others by making crazy videos and posting them on social media. Ton is cocky and wild.

Flute: Tor is a good student who is quiet and repressed. The character required me to act a lot with my eyes.

Student Weekly: Flute, what’s the main difference between acting in TV dramas and movies?

Flute: Movie sets look more real than TV drama sets. For movies, we also have to film everything in great detail. For example, if there’s a scene where the actor falls into mud or water, they can just use different camera angles to make it look real in a TV drama. But for a movie, the actor will have to be in the water or mud all day to film the scene.

Student Weekly: How did you guys feel about working together?

Dharm: Flute is a great actor and he was easy to work with. We could understand each other just by the look in our eyes. We became close because we had a lot of scenes where we were handcuffed to each other. We even had to go to the restroom at the same time.

Flute: Dharm is nice. I enjoyed chatting with him when we were handcuffed together. He started out as a singer, but he’s also good at acting.

Student Weekly: Would you dare to challenge a ghost like the group does in the movie?

Dharm: Not at all. I don’t believe in ghosts, but I still wouldn’t want to do that kind of challenge. I’d be in trouble if ghosts turned out to be real!

Flute: I believe in ghosts and I’m afraid of them. I wouldn’t dare to act like that in real life.

Student Weekly: Do you ever worry about how you can increase the number of comments or likes on your Instagram page?

Flute: No. People who follow me already like me. I don’t have to do anything special.

Dharm: In the past, I used to feel annoyed when I didn’t receive lot of likes or comments. But I later thought of Instagram as a way of presenting myself. It doesn’t matter if people pay attention or not.

Student Weekly: Do you have any favourite scenes in the movie?

Dharm: I like the scenes at school at the beginning of the movie because I was clean in those scenes. After that, I was muddy all the time!

Flute: I like the diving scene because we had to learn how to dive properly before filming it. That was a new experience.

Student Weekly: Did you film in any impressive locations?

Dharm: In Phimai, Nakhon Ratchasima, we filmed at a place called Sai Ngam (Beautiful Banyan) where there are a lot of banyan trees and three huge spirit houses. It was a bit scary because we filmed from dusk till dawn there. I had to put mud on my body there as well.

Student Weekly: What makes Ghost Coin interesting and worth seeing?

Dharm: The film has superb cinematography. There are a lot of spectacular scenes.

Flute: The plot is about the connection between our past to present lives. That connection creates a mysterious and intriguing plot.
