Letter of the week

FIGHTING FIT

I will be soon attending Thai military army service again. Many people complain that this is an unpleasant experience. Personally, I think it is useful. I discovered things about myself and became more connected with my friends during the military lessons.

Teera Siribunsuk,
Bangkok

Good luck with your military service, Teera. It's great that you enjoy it and make the most of your experience. If it's a good way to make new friends and learn more about yourself, then it sounds like time well spent. — Editor

IN THE STARS

I recently read an article about Prince George and the newly born Princess Charlotte. On the day that Charlotte was born, somebody told me about her horoscope and what she is likely to be like when she grows up. But I was wondering if horoscopes really matter? I wonder how believable they are and if we should depend on them. Maybe it's better to just live our lives.

Bing Supangkasen,
via email

Thanks for writing in, Bing. Personally I think that reading horoscopes can be a bit of fun, but I don't think they should be taken too seriously. Some people swear by them, which is fine if that works for them. I think people should be allowed to believe whatever they like, as long as they don't try to force their beliefs onto other people. — Editor

CHANGING COURSE

Last week, my sister got some good news about her admission. After passing many admission tests, she got the opportunity to attend an interview for university entrance. It's her dream to study drawing and interior design in Nakhon Pathom. I couldn’t get into the same faculty, so she's like my representative to study in the field of interior design.

I still regret the result I got three years ago, but I chose to study English and felt happy when I learned more about it. I have learned to be patient, to learn new things and to not give up. Now I don’t regret studying English. If I didn’t try, I would have been a failure.

Dew Thanyarat,
Samut Prakan

I think you've got the right attitude, Dew. Sometimes we feel disappointed when things don't work out the way we hoped or planned, but often that unexpected turn of events can end up working out well in ways that we never imagined. Keep up the good work, and congratulations to your sister! — Editor
