The Fault in Our Stars is based on John Green’s popular novel of the same name.

Directed by Josh Boone, The Fault in Our Stars is a new romantic comedy drama about a relationship between two teens who meet and fall in love at a cancer support group.

Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley) is a 16-year-old suffering from thyroid cancer. Despite her illness, Hazel maintains her sarcastic sense of humour. She also develops a crush on fellow teenage cancer sufferer, Gus Waters (Ansel Elgort), who seems equally smitten with her.

As they grow close, Hazel and Gus share the fears that accompany their health issues, as well as their love of books. Hazel has tried many times to get in touch with Peter Van Houten (Willem Dafoe), the reclusive author of her favourite book, An Imperial Affliction. When Gus manages to reach Van Houten through the author’s assistant, it results in an unexpected invitation to meet the writer in Amsterdam.

Gus becomes determined to take Hazel on a journey that will answer every question she has ever had about the book that means so much to her. Together the pair embarks on a great adventure where they make the most of the possibly limited time that they have together.

Catch the heart-warming humour, drama and romance when The Fault in Our Stars opens in local cinemas on July 24.
