Alleged rapist caught
A suspect was arrested in Samut Sakhon’s Muang district more than five years after he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in Kalasin.
Arthit Tabures, 26, from Kalasin’s Sahatsakhan district, confessed to raping the girl five years ago, after he was arrested in Samut Sakhon, police said. He was drunk and raped the girl at a friend’s house on April 4, 2009, according to police.
He told the girl not to tell anyone about what happened otherwise he would attack her again, police said.
Gambling den
Police raid shophouse
Sixty slot machines were seized during a police raid on a shophouse in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district on July 9.
More than 30 officers raided the four-storey shophouse in tambon Nong Prue at 5:30 am after receiving a tip-off that gambling machines were being stored there.
Officers found the slot machines inside the building and arrested eight men at the scene.
Suspect Weera Nasap, 28, allegedly told officers the rented building was due to open soon as a gambling den.

More than 842 homes in Phatthalung, Phangnga and Nakhon Si Thammarat were wrecked by strong winds. The news was reported on July 9. One injury was also reported in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
