Risen was filmed in Spain and Malta.

A new take on an old story opens this week. Risen, directed by Kevin Reynolds, tells the story of the Resurrection of Jesus through the eyes of Roman soldier and non-believer Clavius.

Clavius (Joseph Fiennes) supervises the crucifixion of Jesus (Cliff Curtis), called Yeshua in the film. Yeshua dies and his body is sealed in a cave. However, it is soon discovered that the body has gone missing. Clavius and his men start to receive reports that Yeshua has been seen alive.

Clavius is told to solve the mystery of what happened to Yeshua in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to stop rumours of his resurrection and prevent an uprising of his followers in Jerusalem.

Follow the drama in cinemas from March 24.
