Skywalk for airport link opens
A skywalk linking the Airport Rail Link’s Makkasan station to the MRT underground railway’s Phetchaburi station is now open.
Airport Rail Link Co chief executive Peerakan Kaewwongwattana said on August 7 that the 166-metre skywalk will make it easier for passengers, particularly the disabled and those carrying bulky luggage, to transfer between trains.
Closed-circuit television cameras and lighting have been installed along the skywalk. Security guards will also be on duty, Peerakan said.

Thailand to help Myanmar
The cabinet recently approved the Sport Authority of Thailand’s plan to spend 60.5 million baht helping Myanmar’s athletes prepare for this year’s Southeast Asian Games.
The games will be held in Myanmar’s capital of Nay Pyi Taw on December 11 to 22. Thai coaches will go to Myanmar to help train their athletes in 14 sports. Myanmar will also send competitors to Thailand for 30-day training camps.
Under the plan, seven Thai sport associations will provide sports equipment worth 28.5 million baht to the Myanmar athletes, as well as fitness equipment worth 17.7 million baht. Thailand will also provide IT equipment and support for Myanmar officials during the games.

Vicious violence
Seven hurt in bomb attack
A male teacher and six female students were injured in a ping-pong bomb attack. It happened in Chatuchak district of Bangkok on August 8. It happened near a bus stop. Police were looking for two suspects. They think the suspects were students from a rival school.
