Three suspects arrested

Three suspected drug couriers were arrested in Chumphon for allegedly transporting 40,000 speed pills worth more than 10 million baht.

The suspects were Udomsak Thamputtho, 32, Preecha Chumwan, 37, and Ratchanee Tangkasem, 31, police said on November 8.

Police said the trio drove through a checkpoint in Chumphon’s Pathiu district. Police chased the car and found the car abandoned in a palm plantation. Acting on a tip-off, police later caught the suspects as they tried to board a public minivan.


Fever fatalities

Dengue fever on the rise

Almost 140,000 people have contracted dengue fever with 129 fatalities so far this year, the Public Health Ministry reported on November 10.

As of November 6, 139,681 people have fallen ill from dengue fever across country, with 129 of them passing away.

Public Health Minister Pradit Sintawanarong said officials were looking at the mosquito larvae situation in different communities so that they can assess the level of dengue risk in the localities.

Disease Control Department chief Sophon Mekthon said the prevalence of the disease is likely to lessen in the upcoming cool season.

Park plan

More green space created

Three parks in Bangkok will be merged to form one big park. The three parks are Chatuchak Park, Queen Sirikit Park and Vachirabenjata Park. It will become one of Thailand’s largest public parks. City Hall announced the news on November 10.
