Mee Jing (Dim)
Spicy Disc

The Public Mansion are a band made up of four young guys who love rock music. The band blends rock with other genres of music to create their own distinctive musical identity.

After The Public Mansion did well playing on the Spawn stage at the Melody of Life 8 festival, they were given an opportunity to record and release a single with the Spicy Disc label. The resulting single is “Mee Jing (Dim),” a rock track with some unique musical touches.

It sounds as if the band didn’t spend too much time on the song’s musical arrangement or on developing the vocal melody, focusing instead on the overall mood of the track. And while the lyrics don’t flow as smoothly as they could, the singer’s voice is very unique and interesting. The band does a good job of communicating the mood of the song, which sounds pleasantly different from what most other local rock bands are doing.

Listening to “Dim” is like hearing a band play live in front of you. People who are into mainstream rock might find that rawness a bit disconcerting, but those who like their rock to be a bit more unusual and interesting should be impressed by The Public Mansion’s “Dim.” — VH
