Located on Phra Sumen Road in central Bangkok, the Pipit Bang Lamphu Museum is composed of two L-shaped buildings. The buildings were constructed in 1925 and once served as the Wat Sangwet Printing School. The museum presents local ways of life, historical sites and traditions of the Bang Lamphu community.

For Freeze Frame this week, SW looks at some of the interesting exhibits at the museum.

A life-sized model of an old coffee shop features vintage coffee-making equipment.

This room displays local household appliances commonly used in the past, some of which were made of silver and wood.

This exhibit is dedicated to the Chakrabongse Mosque community, where a number of goldsmiths once resided.

An interactive display is exhibited in honour of the celebrated Hom Huan Likay Troupe, who originated in the Bang Lamphu area.

This display shows one of Bang Lamphu’s well-known desserts — khao tom namwoon. Wrapped in sheets of banana leaf, the dessert is made of glutinous rice mixed with syrup and crushed ice.
