Floods hit Muang district of Nakhon Si Thammarat on November 9. Numerous houses were damaged. A low pressure system caused the flooding, authorities said.

Man discovered with gunshot wound

Police found the dead body of a man with a gunshot wound in a car dumped in a canal in Nakhon Pathom. The victim was later identified as Thanomsak Boonthamrong, 35, from Lop Buri.

Police said they found the victim on November 6 on the rear seat of a Toyota Wish sedan with a Bangkok number plate. The car was in the Maha Sawat canal in tambon Salaya, Phutthamonthon district. Officers also found 5,000 baht in cash and a suitcase with personal effects in the car.


Krathong collection

City Hall arranges clean-up

Nearly one million krathong were removed from the Chao Phraya River, waterways and ponds after Loy Krathong night on November 6 in Bangkok.

City Hall pulled 982,064 krathong from the Chao Phraya River, canals, waterways and ponds in 29 public parks where people paid their respects to the water goddess. The number of krathong collected from waterways in the capital this year increased by 13 percent compared with last year.

More than 90 percent of the krathong were made from natural materials such as banana leaves, Bangkok governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra said.

Belgian man was arrested

A Belgian man was arrested on November 8. It happened at a security checkpoint in Phuket’s Thalang district. The man was arrested for growing and selling marijuana.
