2PM’s Thai member meets and greets

Since debuting with the K-pop group 2PM in 2008, Nichkhun has been a spearhead of Thai singers in the Korean music scene. His international success has attracted young Thai singers to the K-pop business. Recently, the 27-year-old idol held his solo fan meeting, Mitsubishi Mirage Nichkhun Fan Party: Rak Jed Pee Mee Nueng Hon (Once in Seven Years), at KBank Siam Pic Ganesha on July 18.

GOOD CAUSE

Nichkhun opened the show with his first solo single, "We Become One.” At the meeting, the fans enjoyed an interview between Nichkhun and the funny host DJ Que. The singer played lots of games with fans and let them get close to him. He also sang a song from the soundtrack of the Thai movie Lost in Seoul, “Wannan Wannee Wannai (Someday),” with kids from Baan Nokkamin Foundation. The kids received a 50,000 baht scholarship from the meeting.

SEVEN-YEAR ITCH

To show their love for Nichkhun over the past seven years, members of the fan club Thai Hottest held up cards asking, “Will You Marry Me?” The singer accepted a ring topped with candy from fans. He thanked them for their support over the years. As always, he emphasised that Thai Hottest was his pride because Thailand is his home. Finally, Nichkhun told the fans that whatever happens, they will walk forward together.

Here are some parts of interview.

Question: Why did you choose the song "We Become One" to open this event?

Nichkhun: I recorded this song in 2007 and it was my first song. This is to remind the fans how old they are. [Laughs.]

Question: How did you feel on the first day you arrived in Seoul?

Nichkhun: The airport was beautiful and the weather was cool, but I felt like I was lost.

Question: Why did you decide to go to Korea?

Nichkhun: My grandmom liked the K-pop sensation Rain. She told me to audition so I could become popular like him.

Question: How have you changed during the last seven years?

Nichkhun: I’ve become less stressed out. Normally, I want to do everything perfectly, but I learnt that to expect perfection causes stress and a bad outcome.

Question: How do you cope with pressure?

Nichkhun: I change pressure to inspiration. The fans give me encouragement.

Question: Which 2PM member are you closest to?

Nichkhun: Normally, I’m close to Wooyoung. But lately, I’ve been getting close to Chansung. We play badminton and golf together. Wooyoung doesn’t want to join us. He likes to stay at home and listen to music.

Question: Between being a singer, an actor or a presenter, which do you enjoy most?

Nichkhun: Performing a concert is the most fun because onstage I have a chance to sing and talk to fans.
