Sung Mo sold more than two million albums in 1999 and 2000.

To celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and South Korea, the Thailand-Korea Friendship Festival 2013: Youth, the Key to The Future event was held at Central World on November 23 and 24.

The festival featured performances by local favourites Mike Pirat and Aom Sushar, as well as by Korean group The Boss and singer Jo Sung Mo.

A day before the festival, Thai press met up with 36-year-old Sung Mo and the five members of The Boss — Mika, 23, Karam, 22, Hyunnim, 22, Injun, 21 and Jay, 19 — at the Swissotel Le Concorde hotel. The guys told the press about their music and about their time in Thailand.

Question: Is this your first visit to Thailand?

Injun: This is our second time here. We’re so excited to see our fans, and we want to perform onstage as soon as possible.

Sung Mo: I’ve been working in Krabi for the past two months. The weather was very hot at the time, but it’s cool now.

Question: How do you feel about taking part in the Thailand-Korea Friendship Festival?

Sung Mo: This event is special to me. We would like to create great memory between Thai and Korean people. But I felt a bit sad when I arrived at the airport, because it’s my first official visit to Bangkok and there were only fans for The Boss there.

Question: The Boss, what’s the difference between your second album, Chapter II, and your first one?

Karam: Two years ago, we were still just kids. We’ve become more masculine and look more grown up with this album. We also went on diets to lose weight.

Question: Can you tell us about your latest music video?

Injun: We enjoyed filming the video so much. Enjoying it helped us to look natural in the video.

Question: Sung Mo, as a veteran singer, do you have any advice for The Boss?

Sung Mo: No. They’re already very good at what they’re doing. I’m thankful to be performing at the event with them.

Question: Do any of you guys have a favourite Thai dish?

Injun: When we were in Pattaya, we ordered a lot of food and ate it all. It was all delicious, but we couldn’t remember the name of the dishes. We’d love to eat them again, though!

Sung Mo: I like Thai beer. I’ve been to Thailand many times, so I’m used to Thai food. I often have Thai food in Korea, too, but I it tastes different there.

Question: Do you have any special message for your Thai fans?

Injun: Thank you to all the Thai fans who have waited for us for a long time. And thank you to all the press and fans who welcomed us here. We’re promoting our new album, so please check it out.

Sung Mo: It’s nice to meet you all. I hope that Thai fans welcome The Boss, and please don’t forget me!
