Neko Jump have recently been busy promoting their new ballad, “La Wai Nai Than Thee Sia Jai (Don’t Tell Me You Love Someone Else).” However, 24-year-old twin singers Charattha Imraporn (Jam) and Warattha Imraporn (Noey) have also found time to be ambassadors for the Thai Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (TSPCA).

Last month, Jam and Noey sponsored a female elephant named Dook Dig. The sponsorship project is supported by the Asian Elephant Foundation of Thailand.

Student Weekly recently talked to Noey on the phone while the twins were travelling back to Bangkok after visiting Dook Dig at the Mueng Sing Elephant Village in Kanchanaburi. Noey told us about TSPCA and about Neko Jump’s new single from their upcoming album, Wake Up Please.

Student Weekly: Can you tell us about TSPCA?

Noey: It’s a non-profit organisation that was founded to prevent cruelty toward animals. If anybody finds that an animal is being mistreated, you can report it to TSPCA. The people at TSPCA also proposed a legislation to stop animal abuse and to punish people who mistreat animals.

Jam and I help TSPCA to raise funds to nurse sick elephants.

Student Weekly: What kind of punishment do TSPCA propose for animal abusers?

Noey: There would be serious punishment. I heard that in other countries there is harsh punishment when somebody abuses an animal. In contrast, nothing happens when animals are abused in Thailand.

Student Weekly: Why are you interested in helping animals?

Noey: Jam and I are animal lovers. I’m particularly interested in elephants. I feel sad that not many people care about elephants, even though they’re one of our native animals. I think that elephants are intelligent. We can communicate with them like we can with cats and dogs.

Student Weekly: What do people have to do if they want to adopt an elephant like you did?

Noey: There are details on the Asian Elephant Foundation of Thailand website at www.asian-elephant.org. You can fill out a form and pay 5,000 baht per year to adopt and sponsor an elephant.

Student Weekly: We heard that you recently travelled Tokyo alone. How was your trip?

Noey: It was great fun. I enjoyed it a lot. I’d been to Tokyo many times, but travelling there alone allowed me to try new things.

Student Weekly: What did you do during the trip?

Noey: I’d never visited the Shinjuku area, so I bought a train ticket from the airport straight to Shinjuku. It was fun shopping at the big outlets there.

Student Weekly: Do you have any advice for people who would like to travel to Tokyo?

Noey: You should get information about how to get to the places that you want to visit. Transport can be expensive there, so you should plan it well. Food can be more expensive in Japan compared with Thailand, but you can drink the tap water there.

Student Weekly: How would you describe your new single, “Don’t Tell Me You Love Someone Else”?

Noey: It is a heartbreaking song. When we filmed the music video, we had to cry all day. Before filming, I was worried about the crying scenes because I’d never done one before. But I managed to do it by understanding the character’s emotions.

Student Weekly: Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

Noey: As an ambassador for TSPCA, I’d like to encourage everybody to help animals. There’s always lots of news about abused animals. Animals are living creatures. Even though they can’t speak, they have feelings. If we don’t care about them, some animals may become endangered.
