Did you know

Jennifer earned $52 million between June 2014 and June 2015.

Hitting cinemas this week is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year. Cinema-goers are excited to finally see the last chapter of the Hunger Games series, and to find out if the rebels can defeat the evil President Snow.

Since the first Hunger Games movie came out in 2012, the franchise has become a global phenomenon, making Jennifer Lawrence one of the busiest and most popular actresses in Hollywood. In Mockingjay Part 2, Jennifer returns as Katniss Everdeen, the heroine who’s on a final mission to save mankind’s future and confront President Snow in the final showdown.

To build your excitement for the film’s opening on November 19, Student Weekly recently had an opportunity to do an exclusive interview with the Oscar-winning actress all about The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.

Student Weekly: Can you tell us about Katniss and the challenge that she faces in the new film?

Jennifer: In Mockingjay Part 2, Katniss is a real tough girl. She’s now more than ready to fight back against the Capitol and President Snow, who destroyed her home and nearly killed her best friend Peeta.

Student Weekly: What makes this final part so special?

Jennifer: In each film in the franchise you see the games invented by the Capitol, but this time around it’s the ultimate war between the people in Panem and the Capitol. Katniss takes the action into her own hands and goes after Snow personally. There’s more action, more emotion and most of all, this film brings the story to its conclusion.

Student Weekly: What are you going to miss most about your Hunger Games experience?

Jennifer: The last day of shooting was really emotional. These movies have been my life for so many years. After all this time the cast has become good friends, and it was very sad to see everybody go. A week later, Josh Hutcherson and I decided to hang out at Liam Hemsworth’s house and it was still as fun as always. It was too bad that Woody Harrelson couldn’t be there with us because he lives in Hawaii.

Student Weekly: Were you worried that the Hunger Games would change your life?

Jennifer: I remember when I saw Kristen Stewart become so popular from the Twilight movies, I thought I didn’t really want to be like that. But now I realise that we’ve all had to find a balance in our lives. I love being busy, and I really love the work that I have. So there’s no need to complain!

Student Weekly: Are you similar to Katniss in real life?

Jennifer: I really believe that Katniss and I have so many things in common. She’s really brave, very tough, and she has leadership potential. I’m not just praising myself, you know [Laughs]. But I think that’s the reason I was chosen to take the role in the first place. Katniss is me, and I am Katniss!

Student Weekly: What inspires you?

Jennifer: I usually get new inspiration from arts, music, movies or some cool books. Watching other people dancing or deciding to do something that I never thought I’d do is also inspiring.
