Did you know

Hoya was in the popular TV series, Mark.

While most top K-pop groups have members with gorgeous looks, the seven guys of Infinite look more like boys next door. However, when they’re onstage, their mind-blowing performance suddenly turns them into attractive stars who audiences can’t take their eyes off.

ENDLESS ENERGY

During October 24 and 25, the guys — leader Sung Kyu, 26, dancer Dong Woo, 24, vocalist Woo Hyun, 24, rapper Hoya, 24, and singers Sung Yeol, 24, L, 23, and Sung Jong, 22 — visited the Land of Smiles for their concert, Infinite 2nd World Tour in Bangkok: Infinite Effect at Impact Thunderdome. At the show the group sang 24 songs, including the hits “Paradise,” “Be Mine” and “The Chaser.” The guys’ energy remained high for the whole show.

SOLO AND SUBGROUPS

To give the guys some short breaks, there were performances of the subgroups Infinite H and Infinite F. While Infinite H (Dong Woo and Hoya) offered the cool rapping and soothing pop music of “Sorry, I’m Busy” and “Pretty,” Infinite F (Sung Yeol, L and Sung Jong) performed the fun and adorable songs, “Heartthrob” and “My Girl.” Two powerhouses of the group, Woo Hyun and Sung Kyu, did solo performances. Woo Hyun showed off his high pitch when belted out the pop rock track, “Everyday.” The soulful singer Sung Kyu is never disappointing when he holds the mic. His emotional track, “Kontrol,” was beautiful.

GETTING TOGETHER

Infinite and the fan club Thai Inspirit have been apart for a couple of years. The guys kept saying that they hadn’t seen the fans for a long time, especially Sung Yeol who said that he hadn’t met the Thai fans for 757 days. After thanking the fans for coming to the show, Sung Yeol told them to take care of themselves and get home safely. The show ended with the beautiful ballad, “Together,” which Woo Hyun wrote during his last visit to Thailand. The song was a promise that they would come back to be with Thai fans again.

A day before the concert, the guys chatted with Thai press and 100 lucky fans at the Banyan Tree Hotel.

Question: What do you miss the most about Thailand, since you haven’t been here for two years?

L: What I miss the most is our fans, Thai Inspirit. We really want to hear their screams.

Question: Why is the concert called Infinite Effect?

Hoya: After our first world tour, One Great Step, we felt like we’d stepped up a lot. This tour is called Infinite Effect because we would like to have a great effect on everybody.

Question: Sung Jong, why did you receive the most votes for being a bad boy?

Sung Jong: I think I have a bit of a bad boy personality inside, but it haven’t shown it to anybody yet.

Question: Woo Hyun, is it true that you wrote the song, “Together” after performing a concert in Thailand?

Woo Hyun: Two years ago at our concert, I was impressed and felt thankful that Thai Inspirit sang along to our songs. I thought I should write a song that fans could sing along to easily. It took me a couple of days in Thailand to finish it.

Question: L, is it true that you volunteer at a shelter for abandoned and stray cats?

L: Yes. I love animals and I really like cats. I have a cat at my place. So, if I have time, I like to volunteer and help to take care of them.

Question: Sung Yeol, how did you feel about playing a doctor in the TV series, D-Day?

Sung Yeol: The acting wasn’t so hard, but the script contained a lot of technical terms which took time to remember. If I were a doctor, I’d like to be a surgeon. What I learnt from the show was that being a doctor and helping people is very difficult.

Question: Dong Woo and Sung Kyu, what’s it like to perform in the musical, In the Height?

Dong Woo: It’s a new experience which I like a lot. The musical requires both singing and dancing skills and we have to perform live throughout the show. It’s fun.

Sung Kyu: I was in a musical play a long time ago, and this is another great opportunity. I’m thankful and enjoy being onstage. This show is very special because I perform with Dong Woo.

Question: Dong Woo, do you still carry your toys around?

Dong Woo: Yes, my backpack is always heavy. It’s my habit. If there’s stuff I like, I must have it in my bag.
