Millions of baht spent

The first auction of assets seized from the criminal network of former Central Investigation Bureau chief Pongpat Chayapan kicked off on March 5 with sales exceeding 130 million baht.

A total of 250 items confiscated from the Pongpat network went under the hammer at the 2nd Infantry Battalion on Chaeng Watthana Road in Bangkok.

The sale was supervised by the Anti Money Laundering Office (AMLO). AMLO official Sihanart Prayoonrat said that on the first day alone, the auction fetched more than 130 million baht, as 1,159 people registered for the auction.


Migrant management

New guidelines endorsed

The cabinet has endorsed guidelines for the management of migrant workers, agreeing to allow those who complete the nationality verification process by March to work for another two years after their work permits expire in March next year.

Deputy government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said on March 4 that workers who cannot complete the verification process within March must report to authorities between April 1 and June 30 or face legal action and deportation.

Once they register with the authorities, the workers will be issued with a one-year work permit that is valid until March 31 next year.

Police investigate explosion

There was an explosion. It happened at Laem Thong Company in Samut Prakan. Eleven people were injured. They were sent to nearby hospitals. Police were investigating the cause of the blast.
