SW visits Guangzhou

Guangzhou, the capital city of China’s Guangdong province, boasts a great number of tourist attractions and cultural sites. The city is also famed for its Cantonese cuisine.

For This week’s Freeze Frame, SW takes a look at some of the highlights of Guangzhou.

The world’s largest statute of the Goddess of Mercy is located in central Guangzhou. In 1994, the 40-metre high statute was cast with 120 tonnes of bronze and 180 taels of gold.

Visitors can get a great view of the city from Canton Tower, which is 449 metres tall.

Guangdong Museum exhibits bronze statues, artworks, traditional costumes as well as dinosaur fossils found in the city.

The Five Rams sculpture situated in Yuexiu Park is the symbol of Guangzhou.
