Study scholarships

The Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) recently announced that they will grant students scholarships to study abroad in a bid to broaden their skills.

Under the new scheme, 2,000 scholarships will be granted to vocational students, according to OVEC secretary-general Chaiyapruek Serirak.

The scholarship project was formulated during a meeting between OVEC authorities and officials from the Ministry of Education’s Office of the Permanent Secretary, as well as teachers from Rajamangala University of Technology.

SCHEME FUNDING

A budget will be allocated under the One District, One Scholarship scheme that will run until 2029. Chaiyapruek said on February 2 that OVEC was working on application criteria for the scholarship programmes.

ON OFFER

About 500 short-term scholarships will be awarded to students to study abroad in programmes that focus on special technical skills, while 400 scholarships will be awarded for study in special technical courses throughout Thailand.

One hundred scholarships will be awarded to students to complete undergraduate degrees in technology, while another 100 will go to students who want to acquire special technical skills.

One hundred and fifty scholarships will go to students to undertake postgraduate degrees in foreign countries, on the condition that they return to teach at Thai vocational schools.

Four hundred students who receive vocational certificates will receive scholarships for undergraduate degrees in Thailand and abroad.

One hundred scholarships will be available for students with good grades who want to study for undergraduate or postgraduate degrees overseas.

About 250 students will be granted long-term scholarships for undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in Thailand or abroad that would take seven to nine years to complete.
