Local rockers stick to their style

Cocktail are fast becoming one of the most popular rock bands in Thailand. On the band’s fifth album, The Lords of Misery, Cocktail manage to maintain their unique Thai rock style.

This album features 10 songs, all of which focus on the guitars, bass and drums in their musical arrangements. The songs seem to be designed for the band’s live performances. On top of that basic sound, some of the tracks feature orchestral textures or influences from industrial rock and R&B.

The lyrics to these songs are quite different from the lyrics used in Cocktail’s previous songs. The language is simpler, with the basic phrases and metaphors used making it easy for listeners to remember.

One of the definite album highlights is the album’s first single, “Kook Kao (Kneel),” which is already a very popular track. Another great song on The Lords of Misery

is the recent hit, “Ter (Her),” which is a romantic love song with nice lyrics and a sweet melody.

With The Lords of Misery, Cocktail have stuck to their signature style, so fans of the band won’t be disappointed with this release. — VH
