SW visits Kalasin

Kalasin is a large northeastern province with a population of around 1 million people. The province boasts a number of tourist destinations and plentiful natural resources.

For this week’s Freeze Frame, SW takes a look at some popular spots in this pretty province.

Thepsuda Bridge is one of the most beautiful spots in Kalasin. The giant bridge is 2,040 metres long.

Visitors are encouraged to witness a traditional dance performance by the Phu Thai community, an ethnic group who migrated and settled in the area about 200 years ago.

The sacred Phra That Yakhoo construction is highly respected by locals. A ceremony to pray for good weather is held here annually.

Renowned for its research on dinosaurs, Sirindhorn Museum in Sahat Sakan district is one of the biggest dinosaur museums in Southeast Asia.

Built in 1933 by Vietnamese constructors, Udom Pracharat Temple was built with a combination of Vietnamese and Thai styles.
