Why sport business in UK?

The football industry is a rapidly growing industry, recognized as a multi-billion pound global business and is currently a major industry in the UK, creating more than 100,000 jobs; yet there is little in the way of education and training in this expanding sector.

Thus UCFB, the University College of Football Business, a well-known expert in the industry, was established to answer the growing need in sport business education and training. Although courses primarily focus on the football industry, the skills, capabilities and knowledge students develop throughout their studies are also applicable to surrounding industries such as: coaching, marketing, and/or business management, having gained first-hand work experience within sport industry organisations.

Situated at the Turf Moor Stadium in Burnley, as well as Wembley Stadium in London, students studying at UCFB are able to learn from senior figures of the football industry.

Some of the courses on offer are:
BA (Hons) International Hospitality & Management at UCFB, allows students to study the fundamentals of business management in a unique contextual setting, to support their integration of theoretical knowledge with practice. Thus, students not only develop their understanding of hospitality and management but also marketing, media and finance.

With over 258 million jobs available worldwide in the hospitality industry, such as catering, event coordination, tour operations and resorts, the degree enhances the student’s ability to be a flexible employee in a diverse industry.

BSc (Hons) Sport Psychology teaches students to explore areas of cognitive and biological psychology in order to understand the psychological impacts on the brain and body, in order to improve performance. Hence the degree combines contemporary and traditional areas of research and theory, allowing students to get an understanding of the core areas of psychology whilst developing management and psychological analysis skills.

BA (Hons) Stadium & Events Management covers various areas in sport business by exploring different sporting industries (in particular the football and rugby industry). Students thereby develop their understanding in operational logistics and consumer behaviour associated with hosting major events, in order to deliver a successful and profitable event, whilst considering the implications of legalities and regulations. Within the UCFB Complementary CurriculumTM, students can therefore design, manage and implement their own stadium events to get a taste of the £35 billion global sports events market.
