Potty also works as a manager at the Mongkol RCA Studio.

To make the good guys shine in Thai TV dramas, there always has to be a bad boy. Actor Nattapon Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya (Potty) has been good at playing villains since his first role in the popular TV series Baan Saithong (Saithong Residence).

Since his mother and other relatives are actors, Potty has always been familiar with the world of showbiz. With his great connections, Potty had opportunity to act in a TV series when he was still a junior high school student. However, during high school and university, Potty put his acting career on hold to focus on his studies.

Potty recently returned to small screen acting, playing a bad guy who turned good in the drama Sa Pai Hua Daeng (Daughter in Law with Red Hair). He then played a good cop in Kee Ta Lo Ka (Parallel Universe), which is currently airing on Channel 7. In the upcoming drama, Boodsaba Ta Ruea (Girl at a Port), Potty plays a bad boy again, this time as a gangster’s sidekick.

Student Weekly recently interviewed the busy Potty via email. The actor told us all about his showbiz life and his bad boy acting roles.

Student Weekly: Has your mother ever given you advice about acting?

Potty: Yes. My grandma, mom and aunt are all actresses. They have acting in their blood, but I’m naturally shy. I also tend to speak too fast. My mom and aunt have me a lot of advice about acting and how to project my voice. They are great teachers.

Student Weekly: How would you describe your character in Girl at a Port?

Potty: My character Hean is a gangster at a port. I probably look like a villain, so I often get offered the part of a bad guy. [Laughs.]

Student Weekly: How do you feel about often being cast as a villain?

Potty: I like playing bad guys. I can play that kind of character in various ways and express strong emotions. Playing a villain also goes well with my face!

Student Weekly: Do you find acting difficult?

Potty: Yes. I just recently got back into acting, and I found that my voice was a problem because it’s quite reedy and I speak too fast. My voice doesn’t suit the part of a villain, so I have to consciously speak slowly and lower the pitch of my voice.

Student Weekly: Do you enjoy doing action scenes?

Potty: Yes, I enjoy them a lot. I especially like boxing and shooting guns. I learned how to shoot with my mom.

Student Weekly: Do you believe in the existence of a parallel universe?

Potty: I think it probably exists. There are lots of things that people don’t really understand, like supernatural events and déjà vu.

Student Weekly: Are there any types of roles that you’d particularly like to try?

Potty: I’d like to act in a comedy. I think I could do it naturally, but it would be challenging to make people laugh.

Student Weekly: Would you be interested in trying any other kind of job?

Potty: I’m interested in acting in commercials and singing. I learned how to sing with Joe from Pause. My uncle Boyd Kosiyabong let me train as a singer, and we planned to make an album, but Joe passed away. I’d also like to act in a music video. If Boyd wants me to be in one of his videos, I’ll do it for free!
