Did you know

Katy has sold more than 11 million albums.

Katy Perry’s Prismatic World Tour began in May last year and will end this October. During the tour Katy will perform in more than 30 countries across the globe. Luckily, Thailand was included in the list and hosted the final show in Asia, so we had a great opportunity to witness her world-class performance.

The concert was held at Impact Arena on May 14. Tens of thousands of her fans thronged the venue with placards and colourful costumes like we have seen in some of her music videos.

On this special occasion, each member of the audience was given a pair of 3-D prismatic glasses when entering the concert.

CHIC OPENING

For the 30-minute opening act, The Dolls — a two-girl band plus DJs — performed a series of remixes of smash hits, including “Problem” by Ariana Grande and “Chandelier” by Sia. One of the group members played the violin while the other played the keyboard.

Apart from the remixes, The Dolls performed their own single, “Summer of ‘93” at the end of their set.

DAZZLING DRESS

The audience were thrilled to see the elegant costumes of Katy and her dancers. Throughout the show, they changed into five different themes of outfits: prismatic, Egyptian, cat, sunflower and glittering crystal.

BIG HITS

During the first part of the show, Katy performed a series of her big hits, including “Roar,” “Part of Me,” “Kissed a Girl” and “Hot N Cold.”

One of the highlights was when a huge, moveable horse — with four dancers hidden inside the horse’s legs — rose out of the floor during the song “Dark Horse.”

In the second half of the show, Katy sang and played guitar while performing “By the Grace of God,” “The One That Got Away” and “Unconditionally.”

SHARKS AND SELFIES

Katy invited two of the audience, who were wearing shark outfits, to come up to the stage. Katy asked, “Can you help me learn your language? How do you say ‘hello’ in Thai?” “Sawasdee kha,” they answered.

“How do you say ‘I love you’?” Katy then asked. “Chan rak khun,” they loudly answered. “What about ‘selfie’? How do you say it?” Katy asked again. “Selfie, too,” they said.

Katy then used her mobile phone to take a selfie with them. It was lovely to see Katy spend several minutes talking and joyfully taking photos with the two fans.

FUN FINALE

Some of Katy’s final songs included “Walking on Air,” “This is How We Do,” “Teenage Dream” and “California Gurls.”

Last but not least, the epic song she saved until the very last moment was “Firework.” Before the song, the audience members were asked to wear the special 3-D glasses to see the amazing lights shining through the concert hall in full 3-D prismatic effect.
