Did you know

Kibum’s favourite Super Junior songs are “U” and “Miracle”.

Even though Kim Kibum is best known as a former member of K-pop sensations Super Junior, the rapper has more passion for acting as he was an actor before joining the group. After releasing two albums—Twin and Don’t Don with Super Junior, Kibum went back to his roots by pausing his singing career and focusing on acting. In August, Kibum experienced another big change in his life when his contract with the giant Korean showbiz label, SM entertainment, ended.

As a free man, Kibum decided to visit his fans in Thailand, which is one of Super Junior’s strongest fan bases. During November 7 to 9, Kibum’s schedule was hectic. On the first day, he held a fan meeting at BCC Hall, Central Lardprao. Before the meeting, he hi-fived fans and after the event, he met with some lucky fans to chat with them closely. The next day, Kibum went to Pattaya. He played games with fans at the beach and everybody had a great time.

RAP SURPRISE

At BCC Hall, Kibum appeared onstage dressed in black and surprised the fans by rapping Drunken Tiger's "I Want You." The actor hasn't rapped in public for eight years since the album Don't Don, but he was still good. His low voice is perfect for rapping. Kibum also walked into the crowd to be closer to his fans.

ONE MAN SHOW

Kibum sat down to chat with MC Jaroen. He said he had promised Thai fans that he would visit the kingdom every year, but last year he was really sick. He couldn't be here, but his health was better now. The actor also revealed that he hasn't got a new contract with any agency yet. Since he has no obligations, he believes he can visit Thailand more often. For any fans who have waited for an on-screen performance, the actor said after this event he will go to China to film a drama, Cursed Romance, but it will only be shown in China.

A FRIEND INDEED

To get to know Kibum more, his best friend Jae Wook joined the interview and told the fans a bit about the actor. Jae Wook said they met at an acting audition for the TV series, Sharp 2. At the first meeting, he didn’t like Kibum much because Kibum was good-looking. After becoming friends, they like to hang out and drink together. Jae Wook said Kibum loves his family and Thai fans a lot. He said he fought with Kibum only once, and as he started to explain why, Kibum immediately stopped him, keeping the reason secret.

COOKING SKILL

After a short break, Kibum came back wearing an apron and made Korean gimbap for fans. The actor apologised because the food didn’t look nice. He admitted that he normally only cooks instant noodles. Since he had a hard time making the gimbap, Kibum said he wouldn’t cook anything in his next fan meeting. Despite its so-so look, all the fans who tried his food said it was good.

COZY & CASUAL

The atmosphere at the event was laid-back because the fans and the actor have known each other for a decade. They had fun playing games and teasing each other just like friends. When some fans said he liked fish more than beef, Kibum teased them because he already told them that he likes pork belly with kimji the most. Kibum also told a fan who wanted to know how to lose weight that she shouldn’t drink alcohol. He then danced to Sungthong Seesai’s hit “Noom For Lor Fiew (Handsome Guy).”

EXCHANGING GIFTS

During the final part of the event, Kibum traded gifts with fans and sang Potato’s “Kob Kun Tee Rak Kan (Thank You for Loving Me).” The fans presented him with a video that they made to tell him that they would support any decision he makes, and whenever he needs encouragement, he should come back to see them. After seeing the video, Kibum tried to hold back his tears. He said he knew that the fans would prepare a video for him, but he still felt touched. The event ended after Kibum rapped on Leessang’s “Rush.”
