It’s been a while since we heard from Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen. Her last album Kiss included the huge hit single, “Call Me Maybe,” which reached No.1 on the US Billboard chart. For her new album Emotion, star producers Justin Bieber and Scott “Scooter” Braun have made a monster pop record.

The songs on Emotion are modern electro-pop mixed with classic sounds of the ‘80s, making listeners absorb the old and new at the same time.

The opening song and recent single, “Run Away With Me,” is about going on vacation with somebody. Like many of the songs on the album, the melody is fun and the chorus is catchy. In fact, the songwriting of the 29-year-old star is so strong that any of the songs could be released as a single.

If you like the retro sounds of Mark Ronson’s Uptown Special or the catchy pop hooks of Little Mix, you’ll love Emotion. — SK
