Letter of the week

SPACE ODDITY

I enjoy researching enigmatic topics, especially about creatures that might exist in our universe. Our world is gigantic, but they say that there are planets which are billion of times larger than earth. However, some people still believe that creatures elsewhere do not exist because we have no solid evidence.

But I think these things are possible. If there are billions of stars out there, how could there not be a sustainable planet that is like Earth?

Copter,
via email

I agree wholeheartedly, Copter. We live on just one small planet in a galaxy that contains billions of stars. Beyond that galaxy there are billions and billions more galaxies — each containing billions more stars. Who knows how many planets there could be. So far, we've already discovered nearly 2,000 planets outside our own solar system. I think it's foolish to think that we're the only life forms in the universe. In fact, I'd go so far as to bet that within the next 10 years, scientists will have discovered at least one planet out there that has other living creatures on it. That's pretty exciting. — Editor

TURNING JAPANESE

I have not written a letter to Student Weekly for a long time. Now, I have something to tell you.

After starting a new life as a freshman at university, I have learned many things. I have met many friends from Thailand and abroad.

Recently, I had the opportunity to interact with a Japanese exchange student. He’s cute and very kind to me. When he came back from Japan, he bought snacks for me. In addition, he also taught me some Japanese.

Anchan Chaopa,
Uthai Thani

It's good to hear from you again, Anchan. It sounds like university is going well for you. Your years of higher education teach you lots of things that you can't learn in books. Many people form some of their most important friendships during those years — just like you seem to be. Keep yourself open to new experiences and meeting new people. — Editor

SPLISH SPLASH

Songkran is finally here. I am very excited for this holiday. I will go out with my friends and splash water in the street. I think that we might go to Silom because that is the most fun place to play in the water.

I hope that everybody has a good time with their friends and family on Thai New Year.

Eddie,
via email

Yes, it's finally here, Eddie. Have a good time. I hope you and all of our readers have a safe and happy Songkran. — Editor
