Actor Pavich Saprungroj (Nick), who plays a leading role in the upcoming romantic movie Gan La Krang Nueng Jon Wannee (Until Now), usually spends his break time on set taking photos. Aside from snapping self-portraits to post on his social network accounts, the 21-year-old actor also enjoys taking nature photos and candid shots.

“I like to take pictures of views and candid photography because they are unpretentious,” Nick said.

A third-year student at Rangsit University, Nick became interested in photography when he saw that his photo geek friend had great photography skills.

"I wanted to know how to take a nice photo because a photo can tell a lot stories. I then learnt basic photographic composition from my friend. Before, I didn't consider the composition. I just made a snapshot whenever I picked up a camera. He also taught me how to take pictures at night."

The young performer selected some of his favourite photos to share with us. Here are some of Nick’s works that he took with his iPhone or his friend's Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

The world’s second-longest wooden bridge

This black-and-white photo shows the world’s second-longest wooden bridge, Saphan Mon. Last July, the bridge collapsed during heavy rain. The floating bridge was rebuilt from bamboo. Nick said he made the image black and white because it was like a memory.

Native Mon villagers

There is a scene in Until Now that depicts the daily lives of native Mon villagers. In this photo, Mon villagers are walking across the bridge to perform with other actors.

“I had never seen a Mon community before. It was very interesting to see this kind of community in Sangkhlaburi, Kanchanburi,” Nick said.

Lighting and smoke effects

Around midnight, Nick and other members of the movie crew were in a forest in Kanchanburi.

After the crew set up lights and smoke effects, the dark forest became bright. Nick thought the lighting and smoke looked beautiful, and took the photo using his iPhone.

Rice farm

While the crew prepared to film a morning scene in the movie It Gets Better, Nick took a shot of a rice farm. In the scene, Nick plays a monk who goes out to receive food offerings.

Jumping kid

Here is another photo taken from Saphan Mon bridge. Nick said he met this child on the bridge.

“The child told me that he often jumped from the bridge. I was surprised because it was very high, so I asked him if I could take photographs of him jumping, and he showed me how he did it," Nick said.

Bird’s nest and eggs

This picture was taken near Nick's house. He noticed that a bird had built a nest and laid eggs. When the bird was away, he took a snapshot of its nest.

The real butterfly is a movie prop in the movie Until Now.
