Did you know

Woo Bin plays a safe-cracker in the upcoming movie The Technicians.

Korean actor Kim Woo Bin took Asia by storm after playing Choi Young Do, a school gang leader who is faithful to his girlfriend, in last year’s high-rating TV series The Heirs.

The 24-year-old actor then built on his fame by playing a charismatic bad boy in the TV drama, School 2013. He also played a gangster in the blockbuster movie Friend 2, which was released as The Heirs was being shown on TV.

BEAUTIFUL BALLAD

Woo Bin might look dangerous on TV and movie screens, but in person he is charming, laid-back and friendly, especially to his Woori Bin fan club.

At the Kim Woo Bin the 1st Fan Meeting in Thailand: Love at First Sight event at Thammasat University on April 5, the actor surprised his fans with his outstanding singing skills when he performed Lee Juk’s romantic ballad, “It’s Fortunate.”

TWO STARS

At one point during the fan meeting, Thai star and friend of Woo Bin, Son Yuke, came on stage to give Woo Bin a pair of boxing shorts and boxing gloves with the Korean actor’s name on them. Woo Bin then gave Son an autographed Korean fan, and the two actors showed off some Thai boxing moves together.

SWEET JACKPOT

A fan meeting is never complete unless the star gets close to their fans. Woo Bin achieved this with a game, and the fans went wild when a girl hit the jackpot by picking out a lucky golden ball. The reward was hugs from Woo Bin, as well as a signed present and a chance to take a Polaroid picture with him.

FAN LOVE

Thai Woori Bin created a special video to show Woo Bin how much he meant to them. Woo Bin was impressed with the meaningful messages and humour in the video, and even asked if he could take a copy home.

At the end of the meeting, everybody in the hall held up signs with “Love at First Sight” written on them for Woo Bin.

On April 4, Kim Woo Bin met up with Thai press and some Woori Bin fans at Central World for a long interview. Here is some of what the star said.

Question: Of all the characters you’ve played on television, which is most like you in real life?

Woo Bin: Every role I’ve played is similar to me. Creating a character doesn’t only involve acting. I have to also bring out some of my inner feelings. But if I had to choose one that was most like me, it would be my character in the drama A Gentleman's Dignity.

Question: Would you change anything about the character Choi Young Do in The Heirs if you could?

Woo Bin: I’m pleased with the character. I’d like to thank the scriptwriter for creating such a cool role. I wouldn’t want to change anything about Young Do at all.

Question: If you had a chance to play a different character in The Heirs, which one you would like to try?

Woo Bin: Each character has its own charm. If I tried another role, I wouldn’t be able to do it as well as the actors already in those parts.

Question: You often play an attractive bad boy. Are you really like that?

Woo Bin: I try to be a good person.

Question: Would you like to be a singer as well as an actor?

Woo Bin: I don’t think so. Singing is difficult. Other careers might look fun, but I want to focus on the job I love most.

Question: Is it true that you admire the musical talent of CN Blue’s Lee Jong Hyun?

Woo Bin: Besides his great singing and guitar skills, Jong Hyun is a really nice guy. He also looks cool!

Question: Is there anything you’d like to say to your best friend Lee Jong Suk?

Woo Bin: I’ve worked with Jong Suk since last year. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have this opportunity to come and meet everybody here. I’d like to thank him and say, “I love you, my friend.”

Question: Have you ever experienced love at first sight?

Woo Bin: Of course. In junior high school, I developed a crush on a science teacher at my cram school, but I didn’t do anything about it. It was unrequited love.
